THE MUSIC OF THE FUTURE
I went up to Stoke on Friday to the
SUNNY INSIDE night at The Glebe to see MJ HIBBETT AND THE VALIDATORS/ HOROWITZ/ THE DEIRDRES.
The venue was a bit weird, it was run by proper rock fans and the man running the door had some sort of flame/birdies motif tattoed from around his eye back across his head. There was a motorbike INSIDE the venue.ROCK.
All the bands were ace as is to be expected of the lineup, but it was the EXTRA BITS that made the gig fantabulous: there were mince pies being handed out, and the Validators gave out lyrics sheets so everyone could sing along to the chorus in "THE ADVENT CALENDER OF FACT". lovely.
There was a fantastic moment in the validators set when they got to play THE MUSIC OF THE FUTURE in "DO THE INDIE KID", Mark ran off to do a wee - the toilets being at the opposite end of the room to the stage - while the validators treated us to the peculiar MUSIC OF THE FUTURE, and on his way back was RUGBY TACKLED by a deirdre! The Deirdre then attached himself to Mr Hibbett in an attempt to keep him from the stage so that we could continue to enjoy THE MUSIC OF THE FUTURE. Eventually Mr Hibbett got back to the stage and continued the set.
The evening was BIG FUN and was topped off with a pop-popshow curry, wat more could you ask for?
